One Acre of crop that saves 500,000 Anchovies! - Sow & Arrow

One Acre of crop that saves 500,000 Anchovies!

One acre of Ahiflower can produce the equivalent omega-rich oil of 500,000 anchovies.

Let that sink in.

A crop grown in British fields can produce an extraordinary amount of omega-rich oil, without harvesting hundreds of thousands of fish from the ocean. And that's only the beginning of the story.

From the field, not the sea

Ahiflower® is a British-grown crop, cultivated by farmers using regenerative farming practices. Its seeds produce an oil naturally rich in SDA (stearidonic acid), an omega-3 fatty acid that the body can convert into EPA, alongside GLA (gamma-linolenic acid), an omega-6 fatty acid involved in the body's natural inflammatory signalling pathways.

So rather than simply delivering finished EPA and DHA, Ahiflower oil found in Regenerative Omegas, provides a broader range of fatty acids for the body to work with.

And that brings us to an interesting question. Do we always need to give the body the end product? Or could there be value in providing the building blocks and allowing the body's own metabolism to decide what to do with them?

Let the body do some of the work

We're used to thinking about omega-3 in terms of EPA and DHA. More EPA. More DHA. Higher dose. But the body is not simply a container waiting to be filled. It is an incredibly sophisticated biological system, constantly converting, using and regulating fatty acids according to its needs.

SDA is particularly interesting because it sits further along the omega-3 pathway than ALA and can be converted to EPA.

GLA adds another dimension, providing a beneficial omega-6 fatty acid with its own important biological role. It's a different way of thinking about supplementation.

Not just more.
Not just higher dose.
But more intelligently aligned with biology.

And it starts with the farmer

For us at Sow & Arrow, this is what makes Ahiflower so compelling. The story doesn't begin with a capsule. It begins with a seed, a crop regeneratively grown exclusively by British farmers.

A crop that can produce remarkable quantities of omega-rich oil from the land and a farming system that aims to work with nature rather than simply extract from it.

One acre. 500,000 anchovies.

That's a striking way to think about the future of omega nutrition.

Perhaps the future isn't about taking more from the ocean, it's about growing more intelligently on land. And perhaps, when it comes to supplementation, the journey really can be better than the destination.
